Get credits for where you work

April 11, 2012 at 11:44 pm (Uncategorized)

I currently work in the synthetic diamond industry for a company called USSynthetic.  We create diamond cutter inserts for oil drilling drill bits.  This company is big on Lean Fundamentals.  I went through a lean course at work and have applied the things that I learned here on a daily basis.

I recently found out from my boss that they teach lean fundamentals at the university I work for.  After looking into it I found that its possible to get 16 credits hours from that knowledge.

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of people getting college credit for what they’ve learned or know through work.  It is defiantly worth looking into.

Is buying a textbook for your ipad worth it?

March 1, 2012 at 5:59 pm (Uncategorized)

There are some people who would argue that buying online textbooks are a great and more affordible way to go.  Because they are a little cheaper.  I’ve found that they are a ripoff and here are a few reasons why.

Reason 1 :  Textbooks that you purchase for your ipad or computer are almost as expesive as a regular textbook.  I looked at a textbook for one of my classes that whas $100 for the regular textbook and $70 for the ebook.

Reason 2:  A hardcopy is way easier to flip through.  The ebooks that you find make it hard to flip through multiple pages at once.

Reason 3:

Nail in Foot for the Baby

July 16, 2010 at 6:50 pm (Experiences, House Progress)

I stepped on a nail the other day trying to tare down that back room and it went in my heal about an inch. It took quite a bit to pull it out. It was stuck in there pretty dang good. but I got it and Tess got a syringe without a needle and filled it full of hydrogen peroxide and shot it in the hole. It bubbled and killed for about five minutes then stopped. The next day I stepped on another one. But, now two days later I’m all better.

My Beliefs on Proposition 8

June 28, 2010 at 12:00 pm (Spiritual) (, , )

Because we’re LDS we get the questions; Why did church put a stance on the subject? Why they got into politics?, Why did they put so much money into it? Why do they hate homosexuals?, they are homophobes, etc. I’m am LDS and I don’t condone hate. Please take a moment and read the whole article and I’ll try to explain why I believe what I believe, and why I am for Proposition 8, I pray that you can understand what I intend to convey and hope you will have an open mind to it and hopefully even respect my thoughts. First of all I would like to talk about family. Unfortunately, I think now a days people have changed what a family is. And It’s become a matter of semantics. I know that a man and a woman were created for a reason. I know that there is a special and sacred bond between the two and I think that bond is eternal and should be protected by the law. I also know that if a family is raised and based on certain principals, that it will last forever, and you’ll be less likely to have other problems with children doing things that might some how hurt them or cause them or you to be unhappy. I know that God speaks to people now a days through prophets, scriptures and personal revelation and will let us know how we can live this life with the most joy possible; because he loves us. Reference, The Family: A Proclamation to the world

Scriptures: (Consider; WHY these were written)
Genesis 1:27-28, Ephesians 6:1-4, Deuteronomy 6:7, Exodus 20:12 2 Nephi 2:20, Alma 43:47 Ephesians 5:22,25, 1 Corinthians 7:3, 1 Corinthians 11:11

Now you may be asking yourself. ” but aren’t we talking away people’s agency and freedom.” I don’t think that you should make someone who is gay to be straight and force them to be. Satan manipulates good things to seem evil and vice versa. I believe that being married is a privilege not a right and we should take care of it. I feel the same way about having children because it’s such a big responsibility and there are consequences to what we teach our families, perhaps maybe even more dire then we understand. I know that the world would be a much better place if marriages and families realized how sacred they are. And so I do not believe that it should be OK for the government to condone gay marriage and support it. I do believe however, that because marriage is so important that there should be laws in place to protect it. I don’t want any one to teach my children what is right or wrong but my wife and I or people that I give permission to. I don’t want to sound condescending or belittle ling, but for the most part what the world teaches and what God teaches aren’t the same thing. And I don’t trust people as much as I do God.

Last I would like to talk about revelation. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know that Heavenly father communicates to him and other leaders of the church how we can live a joyful life and what we should be doing to always progress and be a better people. I know that the scriptures are a guide for us to follow, and that they will also help us in life. I also know that we can all pray to heavenly father to know what’s right and what’s wrong and that he will guide us and give us answers to prayers through the spirit and in our hearts so that we can know the truth of all things if we are truly willing to follow the answers we get and put opinions aside.

Satan will try to manipulate, change, deceive and destroy what’s right, especially the family. I know that I have a heavenly father who loves me and all his children and that a family can be eternal and sacred if we work hard and want it to be.

This is why I am for proposition 8. I hope you can understand at least one persons view a little bit better.
