Cussing and Swearing

This is a fun one for me.   I can’t say I’ve ever had a problem with this.    You might be asking yourself why I would be writing a post about this.    It’s because,  if you can’t control the way you speak chances are it’s harder for you to control how you think, act, respond,  and other aspects of your life.   Which brings up another question.  ”Why would I want to control the way I speak?”   My response is.  No matter if you like it or not, how you talk is a direct reflection of how people perceive you.  So ask yourself if you honestly want to be perceived by how you talk.  If you don’t care than unfortunately life will be very hard for you.  You should care. not about what people think of you that you don’t respect obviously, but, you should care what people think that are close to you especially. Caring what people think that are potential acquaintances or even strangers will also help you greatly.  Communication is one of the MOST important things that will help you get what you want in life, and need.   If you have true integrity you should try to show it in all you do, say, and think.  Obviously you won’t be perfect but you should try!  I promise it makes life easier.

Matthew 12:34-37

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judment.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Now for using the Lords, and Gods name in vain.  Come on.   Almost everyone in the Christian world knows that it’s one of the ten commandments.   Some people have a hard time with this one because they don’t think they’re using it in vain when just using it in casual conversation or just put it out there without any spiritual teaching or significance.  I’m sorry but if you use Gods name lightly believe me YOU TAKE him lightly.  Whether your making a consious decision or not.  There is now way that by doing this you’re making yourself a better person.  And again it’s a commandment!  Here’s my favorite scripture on the subject.

D&C 63:60-64 it reads:

Behold, I am Alpha and Omega, even Jesus Christ.  Wherefore let all men beware how they take my name on their lips.  For behold, verily I say, that many there be who are under this condemnation, who use the name of the Lord, and use it in vain, having not authority.  Wherefore, let the church repent of their sins, and I, the Lord, will own them; otherwise they shall be cut off.  Remember that that which cometh from above is sacred, and must be spoken with care, and by constraint of the Spirit; and in this there is no condemnation, and ye receive the Spirit through prayer; wherefore, without this there remaineth condemnation.

And that pretty much sums it up for this post.
